Washed Out

It was almost 50 degrees today- and blindingly sunny! Between classes Angelina and I explored in a field/forrest near my house. We wore booties into the woods.. complete with snow socks.

The Upside to Being a College Student

A list of reasons why it's good to be a college student:
  • access to super giant campus libraries
  • built in excuse for why you can't go to your second cousin twice removed's baby shower (etc)
  • expansion of knowledge (guess I should throw that in there)
  • campus resources for just about EVERYTHING
  • a million volunteer opportunities at your fingertips
  • 50% off at Urban Outfitters --- wait what?---

A Saintly Start for Spring

It seems the majority of lookbooks this spring are brimming with primary colors. While that's lovely for the sake of looking at,  and likely a ton of fun to style, I personally have never been one to invest in many vibrant pieces. Don't get me wrong, I love a nice nice primary strip oversize top, or a statement color scarf- but neutral pants, skirts, dresses, sweaters, and blazers dominate my wardrobe. Perhaps that's one of the reasons I love everything about the All Saints Spring '11 lookbook. Of course the womanswear is based playfully on meanswear concepts, but I can't help but think this is the the exact laid back, neautral, versatile look I'd like to have this Spring. Born Free

Yet another adventure with no planned destination has resulted in some fabulous finds. Walked around the Third Ward today and while seeking shelter from the rain, stumbled into a well-hidden antique shop. Picture this: Gigantic cream-brick old, old building turned Paint-Ball-Antique-Shop-Studio. Mhhm. I would love to share with you the name of the place, but I really can't recall it, and where's the fun in that anyway? Exploring is half the fun. The highlights? The owner barters prices, there are dogs, and good music. Did I mention it's down the street from Anthropologie and Retique?

Monki-ing Around

Finally, the light is beginning to glimmer at the end of the tunnel.. or maybe from between the blinds of my bedroom window. The sun is making it's appearance more often, and the giant icebergs of snow that have become fixtures on our streets are beginning to melt away! SPRING is edging closer, and with that we have the arrival of spring collections! I just got my issue of Monki in the mail today, and it's my first solid inspiration for the coming months. The photos aren't up online yet, but here are some of my favorite pieces. You can view the collections online here, but don't get too excited- we can't shop Monki in America. That doesn't stop me from falling in love with each whimsical, ethereal spread featured in the quarterly issues. Sigh.. one day perhaps they'll branch out.
