Peppermint Dress in NYC

Happy Sunday! This weekend has been quite busy for me as I wrap up my week-long NYC trip. It's been a great time, spent a a great amount of time with my family, hours traipsing the streets of SoHo, and explored some great restaurants. The weather has been pretty rainy in NYC, so Sunday was a nice change with the sun peaking through every now and then. All of the greenery at our house was especially bright and fresh after all the rain, so I was inspired to take a walk with Nylon magazine in the fresh mint green dress I picked up, by Lauren Conrad. I'm really impressed with her dresses, the fabrics are pretty and the fit is very airy and light, (not to mention affordable!). The accessories are all from Aldo, and I picked up the hat on canal street (bartered for it - $7). To top off the look I included Zara Rose which was fitting for the inspiration of lush greenery and florals.

I'm also excited to add this adorable piece of needle point art to my collection, my Nana made it and said I could take it home with me. Pictures to come of the completed vignette in a few days. Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!

Below is a polyvore set to get the look, complete with macaroons :D A canole is a feasible substitute.

New York Girl Style LA Launch Event

I was more than excited to be a part of the  New York Girl Style celebrity launch event and celebration of offices in LA. What better place to kick-off this lifestyle media company’s new Hollywood Hills headquarters than at the “Chic Mecca” of Hollywood, The Standard Hotel? LA style always impresses me with it's bold aesthetic. Although I couldn't make it, I was lucky enough to get the exclusive photos of the fashionable ladies at none other than The Standard Hollywood Hotel! Some of the hottest LA designers and west coast stylists showed up to celebrate the launch. The photo above is my favorite shot of the spotlight guests wearing some of my fluorescent favorites.

In the center is featured fashion expert, the very talented style editor for the LA Times, Hayley Atkin, looking classic and poised as the featured Fashion Expert. On the far right wearing the Naven bombshell dress in vegas blue is New York Girl Style's business development director Christina Engelhardt. And of course looking adorable in Naven circle skirts are Alexis and Kymberly McClay of Naven. I put together a few links to the pieces worn above, get the look below:

Red White and Retro

The moment I caught glimpse of the Aldo Rise collection, I immediately honed in the Aldo + Libertine T-strap sandals. They're the perfect red white and blue summery patent heel to complete an updated retro americana look, and I'm absolutely in love. The red chiffon skirt is an exact replica of the AA pleated chiffon skirt, but 1/20th the price. (Or should I say the AA chiffon pleated skirt is a replica of this vintage one!) Found this red midi skirt at a thrift store for $2. The white blouse with lace detail is from the H&M conscious collection, and is made of the most lovely recycled cotton. I advise NOT putting the conscious collection garments in the dryer though, they shrink to crop tops in a few seconds flat. And there you have it- an updated patriotic look :)

Flourescent Favorites

I've always identified hot pink, neon green, and lazer lemon yellow with my crayola markers. It's time I graduate from this school of thought and accept these super bright colors into my life for another use. It's official, this summer I've accepted the neon trend. When I stumbled upon this H&M post on fluorescent fun, I was inspired to put together my favorite bright garments of the season. Summer isn't even halfway over, so it isn't too late to pick up a few of these pieces. As I type this with barbie pink nails, I can't help but wonder how I ever got by with strictly mattes. Below is a set of my favorite bright color pieces :)
